Spatial Planning
A key challenge in bedroom design is incorporating ample storage without compromising the sense of space and tranquillity. In this project, the solution was to integrate full-height built-in wardrobes across the entire wall, creating a highly functional storage system that feels seamless and unobtrusive. Central drawers provide practical access to everyday items, while the consistent design language ensures the cabinetry reads as part of the room’s architecture rather than as individual furniture pieces.

By extending the joinery from floor to ceiling, the design maximizes vertical space while maintaining a clean and uninterrupted visual flow. The uniform cabinetry creates a calm backdrop, reducing visual clutter and enhancing the room’s overall sense of openness, sophistication, and balance.

Sustainable considerations
The design incorporates several sustainable principles, including the use of durable bespoke joinery that reduces the need for replacement and natural cane, a renewable material that adds both texture and warmth. Neutral finishes have been selected to ensure the scheme remains timeless and relevant beyond changing trends.

Integrated storage further enhances sustainability by making efficient use of space and reducing the need for additional furniture. Together, these thoughtful choices create a design that is both environmentally conscious and built for long-term appeal.

Design approach
A Statement Island – The island serves as the focal point of the kitchen, combining food preparation, casual dining, and socialising in one multifunctional space. Finished in a warm oak-effect texture with a marble-inspired worktop, it adds natural character while maintaining the clean, contemporary aesthetic. Integrated seating for three encourages interaction, while the waterfall-edge worktop provides a premium architectural finish.

The results
The completed kitchen delivers a sophisticated contemporary environment that feels both luxurious and highly liveable. Combining natural textures, bold contrasts, and practical planning, the design balances style and functionality through a handleless kitchen, feature island with integrated seating, warm timber and charcoal finishes, marble-effect surfaces, and a fully integrated appliance bank.

The brief

Design approach
The design celebrates the property’s original character, with exposed oak beams and restored brickwork serving as key features. Soft grey shaker cabinetry and crisp white worktops were introduced to balance the rustic textures, creating a timeless blend of heritage charm and contemporary living.

Statement features
Heritage Timber Beams – One of the most distinctive aspects of the project is the network of exposed timber beams that span the ceiling. Their weathered texture and natural imperfections tell the story of the building’s history and bring an unparalleled sense of character to the space.

Farmhouse Sink – Positioned beneath the large multi-pane window, the traditional apron-front sink serves as both a functional workspace and a classic country kitchen feature.

Range Cooker – The black range cooker acts as the focal point of the room, providing visual weight against the lighter cabinetry while reinforcing the kitchen’s traditional aesthetic.

Natural Light – The generous window floods the room with daylight, highlighting the texture of the brickwork and timber while creating a bright, welcoming environment throughout the day.
